Buying VW Beetle Carpets
We have sold VW Beetle carpets for over forty three years ! Volkswagen Beetle carpets have been made by several manufacturers. TMI Products became the leading manufacturer of Beetle carpets. Their VW Beetle carpets are properly made. The loop pile Beetle carpets are the most durable Beetle carpet material (loop pile Beetle carpets match the original German carpet material in longevity.) Loop pile carpet fabric captures most of the texture and appearance of the old German VW Beetle carpets.
We offer Volkswagen Beetle carpets from TMI Products. These VW Beetle carpets are now the best carpets available for the VW Beetle and VW Super Beetle
TMI VW Beetle carpets are barely distinguishable from original German fabric Volkswagen Beetle carpets. Our Volkswagen Beetle carpets are a sensible substitute to the original German Square Weave carpet fabric.
Our Volkswagen Beetle carpets are available as full carpet sets and as partial carpet sets: VW Beetle carpet complete sets cover the floor and the rear well (the whole area inside the Beetle, including behind the back seat).
You can purchase VW Beetle carpets in a variety of colors. We have fairly good scans showing the VW Beetle carpet colors and texture. Generally these carpet scans suffice to define your Beetle carpet color selection. (Most Beetle carpets sold are in black, charcoal or salt and pepper; but some Beetle owners opt for another color.)
Our Volkswagen Beetle carpets are accurately grommetted around the shift lever, the emergency brake, and the seat belt points in every VW Beetle. Trunk carpets, carpeted tire covers (sold separately), and matching floor panels are also available for the VW Beetle and VW Super Beetle.
What You Need to Know About Buying A VW Beetle Carpet:
German Carpets vs. American Carpets
German Beetle Carpets:
Original German Square Weave fabric carpets are absolutely authentic to the VW Beetle, but they are very costly. They are best for the extraordinarily dedicated restorer who enters shows where judges with magnifying glasses identify absolutely original Volkswagen Beetle carpets.
American Made TMI Carpets:
A sensible substitute, for VW Beetle carpets, is our best selling nylon loop pile (American fabric) carpets. These Volkswagen Beetle ("VW Bug") carpets are just as durable and quite similar in appearance to the original. To purchase VW Beetle carpet here, you'll find color choices when you click on a link at the right for your Beetle or Super Beetle carpet year.
Installing Your Volkswagen Beetle Carpet
Installation involves the careful layout of the carpet sections and then application of contact cement along the edges of the VW Beetle carpet and bottom and toward the center (and along mating floor surfaces.) You'll have to "map out" the pieces according to the original carpet or the floor contours.
How To Install Beetle and Super Beetle Carpets
We have a very well illustrated "how to" guide to installing Volkswagen Beetle carpets. These illustrated carpet directions can be downloaded and printed out for your use. Our carpet installation instructions include all steps, including such details as the removal and re-installation of the carpet threshold pieces, and the proper use of carpet contact cement.
You may download a copy of the Beetle carpets instructions; just paste this "url" to your browser tab:
Some Beetle restorers are opting for a non-original set of plush cut pile carpets. These cut pile Beetle carpet sets are softer to the touch than loop pile carpets but a little less durable than the loop pile Beetle carpets. The cut pile Beetle carpets are available in a variety of colors too.
We have divided our many VW Beetle carpets into categories. We hope that the link selection here easily brings you to your own Beetle or Super Beetle sedan or convertible on this page.
Foot Rests:Some Beetles have passenger side front "foot rests." Carpets are made for Beetles either with or without these foot rests, a choice you will make on your Beetle or Super Beetle page.
