Headliners were originally cloth, a soft napped mohair fabric. In 1965 VW switched to perforated vinyl.

most vinyl headliners were "Volkswagen white." this is really a very pale ("dove") gray, as you can see in the scans (where we call them "off white.)

some restorers are fussy about originality and will want to stick with the "Volkswagen white" perforated vinyl. However we are offering black (not scanned) and a paper white un-perforated vinyl (shown as "crater white" because the texture looks like the moon's surface) as options.

Karmann Ghia convertibles were redesigned in the middle of 1969. Where you see "early 1969" we refer to the originally plastic rear window models. Later models were made with large hinged glass rear windows. These are the "mid 69-74" convertibles.
