The “cross section” diagrams on the right show the two types of windshield seals: “Cal Look” and “American Style.” "A" is the Cal Look and "B" is the American Style. See the restoration tip below.Seals are being reproduced by several sources. Rubber formulations and cross section can vary significantly from original quality. We avoid cheap substandard seals; they can lead to problems such as poor fit and premature deterioration.
Restoration Tip
The ‘Cal Look’ seals are by far the more popular. They do not have molding grooves and instead have solid rubber outer walls. Old chrome beading can be difficult to re-install and replacements are very expensive. With ‘Cal Look’ seals the moldings are eliminated. There is no quality decrease in using ‘Cal Look’ seals BUT if you are striving for originality then you will need ‘American Style’ seals and the moldings.
