We have found that the Mexican made running board for VW Beetle and VW Super Beetle is quite heavy duty and imparts good value. They have proven to be sturdy and long lasting running boards. The alignment of these running board mounting points with the original sheet metal holes (running board attachment panel holes) is, at times, imperfect. For most do-it-yourselfers this is not difficult to overcome. You may have to adjust hole locations in utilizing the Mexican running boards. This is the only recurring complaint we have on these.

For those not bound by budget considerations the fit and finish of the German VW Beetle and VW Super Beetle running boards is unsurpassed. With the German running board you will not face any bolt to channel alignment issues as we have sometimes found with the Mexican running boards. Those of you who are good at surmounting this kind of difficulty with some creative welding (which may be required anyway along the heater channels) may opt for the Mexican running board.

We also carry a beautifully made 'billet' running board. This VW Beetle and VW Super Beetle running board is made of cast aluminum. Though not original the finish and fit of these running boards are excellent. These running boards are for the VW Beetle or VW Super Beetle owner who likes the billet appearance and resistance to deterioration, a very desirable feature in replacement running boards.

There are cheap Brazilian reproduction VW running boards on the market, but those running boards vary too much in fit for out taste and are not as durable as the Mexican or German (or billet) VW Beetle running boards.

Our Beetle running boards come complete with black vinyl mat and choice of width of moldings to match early and late models. Please note that the original classic running boards are all the same; they vary only in the original molding width (molding strip along outside edge of running board.)
