For: Volkswagen Beetle BUMPERS & BUMPER PARTS
Description:
Bumper Conversion Brackets, Rear, PAIR:  For "back fitting" bumpers (see below)
Conversion bumper brackets allow you to mount early Type 1 (1954-67 Beetle) bumpers on a 1968-73 Beetle. Rear Set only

There is a way to install early blade bumpers onto a 68-73 beetle! These conversion bumper brackets bolt directly onto 68-73 beetles, and exit out of the stock fender/bracket hole.

Conversion brackets have the same base as stock brackets where they mount to car, then taper down to an early bracket dimension where they pass through fender.

Finished with a nice satin black powder coat these bumper brackets help make for a great resto-custom upgrade.

**1971-73 Super Beetles have smaller FRONT bumper brackets than standard beetles. Rear bumper brackets are the same for both cars. If you want to use conversion brackets on a Super Beetle you will have to elongate the exit hole through the front fenders in order to fit conversion brackets.

Replacement VW Beetle and VW Super Beetle bumpers including those advertised as "triple chrome plated" or "show chrome" bumpers are made in Mexico, Brazil and similar sources.

We choose and offer the best of the 'triple chrome plated' "Third World" VW bumpers based on our experiences with bumper sales over the years..

Deterioration occurs in about five percent of all these bumpers. The importer inspects bumpers on arrival and we do the same when they arrive here. Also we will check all outgoing bumpers upon shipment and will warranty bumpers that have never been installed. This cannot guarantee that such bumpers will never experience any pitting or sustain other blemishes etc. The expense of domestic chroming is such that restored American original Beetle bumpers is almost prohibitive and these bumpers are the market's response to the need for bumper replacement.

With any aftermarket VW bumper we recommend coating with chrome varnish or lacquer. This will diminish the odds of premature surface "incidents" on your new bumper.

It is possible to take an original VW Beetle bumper for specialized restoration. The thickness and manufacturing quality of the original bumper is superior to any aftermarket bumpers. The bumper restoration process includes filling of bumper dents, sanding off all rust, reshaping bends in the bumper, and high quality rechroming. This bumper restoration is expensive but will give you the best bumper that your Beetle can have. You can find bumper restoration firms listed in Hemmings Motor News Magazine. Or you can do an on line search for "bumper restoration." Typical pricing for this bumper service is going to be very very high.
